Judiciary Pushes for Digital Transformation as Magistrates Embrace New Electronic Court Case Management Information System

The Judiciary has today kicked off a two-day training for Chief Magistrates and Magistrates from Cluster Four courts on the use of the Electronic Court Case Management Information System (ECCMIS).

The training, taking place at the Supreme Court Conference Hall in Kampala, is aimed at empowering Judicial Officers with hands-on skills to effectively operate the new digital platform.

Delivering her opening remarks, Lady Justice Immaculate Busingye, the Chairperson ECCMIS Technical Committee, urged participants to fully embrace the System, noting that technology is now an essential part of justice delivery.

"ECCMIS is a fully-fledged system. If youve been using CCAS, you will notice some differences. Please get to know the System and understand how it works -believe me, you will love it," she said.

Justice Busingye encouraged the magistrates to engage actively, ask questions, and commit to learning the system, adding that technology is no longer optional in today's Judiciary.

"Invest your heart into technology. It is the way forward - we are not going back," she emphasized.

Ms. Julian Rweju, the ECCMIS Technical Advisor, welcomed the magistrates and reaffirmed the Judiciarys commitment to its digital agenda.

"The Judiciary is moving into the digital space. We hope you will take this seriously and go back to your courts as ECCMIS champions," she said.

Ms. Rweju reminded participants that although full mastery of the System may take time, continuous learning and technical support would be available.

The interactive sessions are focusing on: Key features & functionalities, Roles of different users, Live system demonstrations and Practical engagement with real scenarios.

The training is being facilitated by members of the ECCMIS Technical Committee, with Mr. Denis Rwatooro moderating the sessions.

Cluster Four courts under this training include Nabweru, Entebbe, Kawempe, Luweero, Kira, and City Hall courts.

The Judiciary's roll-out of ECCMIS is part of ongoing reforms to enhance efficiency, transparency, and accountability in Uganda's justice system.
